101 miles per Sunnyvale track

Just back from a week away from computers, the internet and all things digital. While I have admittedly hopped right back on the wagon, it’s been just great not thinking about emails, blogs or ANYTHING for a few days, and a welcome reminder that in the average week I get about five emails of interest out out a few hundred.

Goodbye, old live set

Goodbye, old live set

What was less welcome was driving 1100 miles this week, approximately 770 of them in the course of two days as my band played a show in Glasgow last night to celebrate the tenth anniversary of diskant, for which both Simon and I have written articles many a time. The Centre for Contemporary Arts is a beautiful space, part gallery, part bookshop, part cafe and apparently part gig venue too. We played in an auditorium that seemed as much set for cinema screenings as anything else, with a crystal clear sound. Saw some old friends, met some new ones, and it was a nice way to see off the old Sunnyvale live set, which we’ve been playing for a year now. Upcoming shows in Coventry and Aylesbury aside, we’re taking some time out to write two or three new songs, which will constitute half a new live set when they’re done. No idea what they might sound like, but my first guess is that they’ll continue the trend set by ‘This Far And No Further’ and be a bit more aggressive than earlier stuff.

Ooh look, someone’s uploaded a video clip already.

  1. ha ha you have to go to aylesbury.

  2. Never mind that – if you look at my gig timeline above, you can see that I’ve played Wycombe THREE TIMES. Horror…
